Circuit Huayhuash & Surasaca Lake Trek

This fantastic huayhuash surasaca excursion is another of the hiking options that we offer in our program. If you choose this route you will have the opportunity to enjoy the best views of the Raura and Huayhuash mountain ranges, while on the way we will visit the known Surasaca lake, which is located in the Raura mountain range. Then our tour ends in the town of Churin, famous for its thermal waters, ideal place to dive into the baths before returning to Lima.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Guide

One fully qualified, certified and experienced mountain guide who speaks Spanish and English if required, andwho holds a first aid certificate in mountain rescue.

Cook

A profesional cook who prepares a wide variety of healthy and delicious dishes, and who is trained to cook in a hygienic manner accompanies group of more than 4 people.

Muleteer

The muleteer (arriero) is in charge of loading the donkeys, looking after them and guiding them to camp.

Donkeys

The number of donkeys provided depends on the size of de the group.

You are allowed to bring up to 6 kg of personal belongings that will be loaded on the donkeys. You will only carry your daypack during the day.

Emergency Horse

One horse accompanies the group for emergency purposes.

Fantastic Meals

All food during the expeditions is provided as part of the package. We offer a combination of peruvian and western dishes. The varied, good-quality, high-energy food prepared by our profesional cook is specifically suited to rigorous activity.  We also regularly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, kosher, non-gluten and other specialty diets.

Private Transport

From you hotel in huaraz to the starting point of trek, an from the finishing point of the trek back to your hotel in Huaraz.

Day 01: Huaraz – Llamac – Pampa Llamac (3300).

Departure from Huaraz 6.30 am.
We leave to the south passing through the towns of Ticapampa, Catac Conococha, Chiquian, Llamac.
From Llamac we started to go up to pampa Llamac where we have the Andean sunset.
The trip lasts 4 hours and a walk of 2 hours.
Break.

Day 02: LLamac – Macrash Pass (4300m) – Lake Jahuacocha (4050m).

Breakfast.
We leave with climb to the Macrash pass where we have the first view of the Yerupaja mountain.
Continuing our route through the valley of Achín to the Jahuacocha lake, and countryside.
The walk lasts from 7 to 8 hours

Day 03: Laguna Jahuacocha – Paso Sambuya (4750m) – Cuartelwuain (4180m).

Breakfast.
From Jahuacocha we head towards the Sambunya pass where we have the view of Rondoy and Ninashanca.
Then descend through the Rondoy valley to the Cuartelwuain field.
The walk lasts 5 hours

Day 04: Cuartelwuain – Paso Kacanan Punta (4690m) – Lake Mitucocha (4200m).

Breakfast.
We begin to climb towards the Kacanan Point point where we have the view of the valleys.
We descend through the hot valley to the Janca field.
In the afternoon visit to the Mitucocha lake and view of the Jirishanca mountains, Mituraju

Day 05: Lake Mitucocha – Paso Carhua (4650m) – Lake Carhuacocha (4135m).

Breakfast.
We start a very easy climb up to the Carhua Pass where the east face of the Huayhuash mountain range can be seen.
We descend through the Yanayana valley to the Carhuacocha lake, and the countryside.
The walk lasts 4 to 5 hours

Day 06: Laguna Carhuacocha – Paso Punta Carnicero (4615m) – Huayhuash (4300m).

We got up very early to see the sunrise and the Andean sunrise.
Breakfast.
Then we go through the valley to the Siula viewpoint, the view of the three lagoons of different coulors.
We continue route to the Siula Pass where we have the Siula, Butcher, Sarapo mountains.
We descend through the Atocshaico valley to the Huayhuash field.The walk lasts 6 to 7 hours

Day 07: Huayhuash – Portachuelo Pass Huayhuash (4700m) – Viconga (4365m).

Breakfast
We are going up an easy climb with the view of the mountains Trapecio, Puscanturpa up to the pass Huayhuash portachuelo.
Descent by pumarinri valley next to the Viconga lagoon, we reach the Viconga field.
An unforgettable relax in the thermal baths, and rest.

Day 08: Viconga – Paso Cerro Portachuelo (4830m) – Lake Surasaca (4379m).

Breakfast.
We start through the valley of Llanquipata until the passage zero portachuelos
We have the vitas of Sillajanca mountains, Quesillojanca, Pucacalle of the Cordillera Raura.
We drive through the Pucarangra valley to the Surasaca lake, and the countryside.
Walk lasts 5 to 6 hours, and rest

Day 09: Laguna Surasaca – Churin – Lima.

Breakfast.
We descend through the same valley 3 hours where private transportation awaits us.
We continue our trip passing through the towns Uchuzpampa, Oyon, Viroc, Nava and then Churin to Lima.
The trip lasts 8 hours to Lima.
