OVERVIEW

The hike to the fast huayhuash, cuyoc pass of 8 days, is suitable for those hikers who are looking for a challenging route and have limited time. This trek is a delightful and remote experience, where seven high passes (all over 4600 m.) Are crossed, especially to the Cuyoc Pass of 5000m. Camping every night above 4000m. When walking it crosses narrow and boxed valleys that form the steepest relief of the Peruvian Andes, and glacial lakes where the mountains are reflected, also shows a series of breathtaking views of the peaks and snows above 6000m.

Keep in mind that there are many possible alternative programs for the walk to huayhuash, with a duration of 6 to 8 days all with different points of entry and exit. Destination: Cordillera Huayhuash.

Best seasons: April / October.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Guide

One fully qualified, certified and experienced mountain guide who speaks Spanish and English if required, and who holds a first aid certificate in mountain rescue.

Cook

A profesional cook who prepares a wide variety of healthy and delicious dishes, and who is trained to cook in a hygienic manner accompanies group of more than 4 people.

Muleteer

The muleteer (arriero) is in charge of loading the donkeys, looking after them and guiding them to camp.

Donkeys

The number of donkeys provided depends on the size of de the group.

You are allowed to bring up to 5 kg of personal belongings that will be loaded on the donkeys. You will only carry your daypack during the day.

Emergency Horse

One horse accompanies the group for emergency purposes.

Fantastic Meals

All food during the expeditions is provided as part of the package. We offer a combination of peruvian and western dishes. The varied, good-quality, high-energy food prepared by our profesional cook is specifically suited to rigorous activity.  We also regularly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, kosher, non-gluten and other specialty diets.

Private Transport

From you hotel in huaraz to the starting point of trek, an from the finishing point of the trek back to your hotel in Huaraz.

Day 01: : Huaraz (3090) – Cuartelwuain (4180m)

We left Huaraz 8: am.
We are going south through the towns of Recuay, Chiquian, Llamac, Pocpa, Cuartelwuain.
With the sight of field cultivation, and the Conococha lake.
.The trip lasts 5 hours

Day 02: Cuartelwuain – Kacananpunta Pass (4690m) – Carhua Pass (4650m) – Carhuacocha Lake (4138m)

.Breakfast
We got up very early because our walk is to pass two steps Kacanan and Carhua.
.Where we have a view of the valleys and mountains of the Huayhuash mountain range, and then
Carhuacocha camp.
The walk lasts 9 to 10 hours

Day 03: Carhuacocha Lake – Siula Punta Pass (4830m) – Huayhuash (4350m)

.Breakfast
We leave through the Carhuacocha valley to the Siula viewpoint, a beautiful view of the three lakes.
Continuing the route the Siula pass where we have the views of the majestic mountains of the Huayhuash mountain range.
. Descent through the Atocshaico valley to the Huayhuash field.
The walk lasts from 6 to 7 hours

Day 04: Huayhuash – Portachuelo Pass (4700m) – Viconga Thermal Baths (4365m)

.Breakfast
.Subida moderate with the view of mountains: Trapecio, Puscanturpa, Suerococharaju until the passage portachuelo Huayhuash.
Descend through the pumarinri valley through the Viconga lake, and the Viconga thermal baths.
The hike lasts 5 hours, and relax in the thermal baths.

Day 05: Viconga – Cuyoc Pass (4980m) – San Antonio Pass (5025m) – Huanacpatay (4280m).

.Breakfast.
Another day of extreme challenge because there are two steps to climb, Cuyoc and San Antonio spectacular views of mountains Jurao, Butcher, Sarapo, Siula, Yerupaja, Rasac, and lagoon Jurao and Sarapococha.
.Descent through the Huanacpatay valley, and reach the Huanacpatay field.
The walk lasts 9 to 10 hours.

Day 06: Huanacpatay – Huayllapa – Huatiaq (4300m).

.Breakfast
.Descent through the Huanacpatay valley through the puhuakpaccha waterfalls, and Huayllapa cultivation areas.
From Huayllapa we start through the huancho valley to the Huatiaq field.
The walk lasts 5 to 6 hours.

Day 07: Huatiaq – Tapushpunta Pass (4770m) – Llaucha Pass (4850m) – Jahuacocha Lake (4050m).

.Breakfast
Another challenging day, we climb with an ascent to the Tapush Pass and then to Llaucha Point, where we have the last view of the Huayhuash Mountain Range.
From Llaucha step we do not go through the Huacrish hill to see main peak such as, Rondoy, Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Siula Sarapo, Rasac, the great and small Sacra.
Then descend with the view of the lagoon Jahuacocha and Solteracocha in the background, and then the field.
The walk lasts from 8 to 9 hours

Day 08: Jahuacocha Lake – Pueblo Llamac – Huaraz.

Breakfast
We leave through the Achín valley to Pampa Llamac.
From Pampa Llamac descent to the town of Llamac, where our private transportation picks us up.
Return to the city of Huaraz, and the trip lasts 5 hours.
