Huánuco Viejo Trek to Huayhuash
The hike to the archaeological complex of Huánuco Viejo is one of the must-see destinations for hikers who love walking and exploring in the central highlands. This circuit is designed for lovers of archeology, history and adventure. The old citadel of Huánuco is the true collection of Inca architecture, capital of the Chinchaysuyo in the Inca period; worthy living memory of the imperial past of the Tahuantinsuyo.
Huánuco Viejo was linked to the Inca Qhapaq Ñan network of roads, which led south to Cusco and to the northeast with Cajamarca, in this archaeological complex the festival of the Inti Raymi or festival of the sun is celebrated, every July 27 of each year.
