OVERVIEW
Santa Cruz & Alpamayo, the hike around Alpamayo is considered one of the longest and most challenging trekking circuits in the Cordillera Blanca. It is a great option for people who love trekking.
The trail plunges into deep valleys and ascends over high passes, passing through a wide range of elevations and climates. Along the way, hikers can experience the rich flora and fauna of the Andes, glaciers and alpine lakes, picturesque villages and archeological ruins of Ruinapampa and Yaino. The route rewards walkers with close views where you will appreciate the pyramidal face of the imposing snow-covered Alpamayo.
Alpamayo covered with snow on the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Perú, is considered “The most beautiful mountain in the world” by Alpinismus magazine in 1966, rises to a height of 19,511 feet in the Huascaran National Park.
